Description of the painting Vasily Meshkov “Golden Autumn in Karelia”

Many of us know that Karelia is famous for its pristine nature, almost untouched by civilization. It seems that this place is timeless. Time flies, but practically nothing changes here.

Sacks depicts autumn. We see her golden age. The painter chose a day when there is no rain, but the sun decided not to please us with the last warm rays. This is the brightest time. There is a special transparency in the air. It is so clean that you want to breathe it deeply. All trees are amazed by the riot of red and gold colors. This magnificence replaces the sun, coloring the forest with fairy tones. But the artist gives all the colors a somewhat formidable look. Behind the trees is water. Its lead color brings a chill.

Here and there you can still notice small glimpses of greenery. Thawed patches of grass greens a little. But how long is it. Soon everything here will turn yellow and dull. If we look at the sky covered with clouds, the joy will instantly disappear. The sky practically clings to the tops of trees, lead clouds are so heavy. Gray color evokes only sad thoughts. Karelia is covered with a huge heavy blanket woven from gloomy clouds. The picture looks a little dull and creates a sad mood.

The bags to create this grandiose power picture chose dark colors and gray color. Thanks to this, the viewer has the impression that this time in Karelia is incredibly gloomy. But the canvas is sternly attractive, and this is the power of its great influence on everyone who looks at it.

The picture conquers unbridled nature, which does not obey any laws. She is gorgeous precisely for her wild disposition. It seems that the landscape depicted by Meshkov tends to break out of the canvas, as he is simply crowded here.
