Giuseppe Arcimboldo is an artist who lived in Italy in the 16th century, a painter at the Habsburg court. He was a mysterious and peculiar artist of the time, thanks to which he became famous. Neither the general public nor experts can still fully unravel the mystery of his painting.

Today, his painting impresses with its unique artistic design, and its bold “avant-garde” incarnation. 14 of his paintings have survived to this day. Arcimboldo is a brilliant exponent of nature; he very skillfully and truthfully conveyed her paints, dying and reviving magnificence on his canvases.

One of his paintings "Librarian" was painted by him in 1565. Looking at this picture, it seems that the author depicted a real book worm.

This voluminous composition in which the image of the stereotypical library worker, which has been developed over many years, is embodied.

This is such a man with a beard of incomprehensible age, he is all covered in books.

The librarian seems to come out from behind a closed dark curtain to bring several books from the archive to the reader. He has been working in the library for many years, completely immersed in his activities. This bookworm knows how to help readers choose the right book, and where which one is on which shelf.

In his arms and chest, he holds books of different colors and sizes, they are also depicted in the form of an arm, head and body. To some, the librarian depicted may seem like a boring, middle-aged worker who jealously guards book wealth.

This image was created by the author with the help of a visual pun in the form of a symbolic figure, which the artist so managed to create. These transformations in the 20th century were a source of inspiration and imitation of the famous surrealist artist Salvador Dali.
